Abstract

To what extent do Superman (1978) and Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) reconfigure heteronormative heroic masculinity through their treatment of physicality, emotional expression, interpersonal networks, and civic space, and how do these shifts reflect the sociocultural climates of late-Cold-War America and late-millennial Gen-Z culture?
