Abstract
Retinoids are the derivates of Vitamin A that include synthetic and natural compounds that have a similar action as that of Vitamin A1. Retinoids have different effects on how cells and tissues change in organ culture2, therefore they are used in cancer chemoprevention in the medical field, specifically in skin cancer where etretinate and acitretin have shown to be effective in inhibiting the development of new dysplastic skin lesions and skin cancers3. This epithelial cell homeostasis is demonstrated by the ecessitated Vitamin A4 which is the core substance of all retinoids. In this context, it could be hypothesized that retinoids might greatly impact treating acne vulgaris by stabilizing the epithelial cells on the skin.
