Abstract

In this project, effects of ligand (NH3) concentration on the characteristics of tetraammine copper (II) sulfate monohydrate were investigated by using different analysis technique such as DTA/TGA, IR spectroscopy and Magnetic Susceptibility measurement. Firstly, amine complexes of copper were prepared by using different concentrations of ammonia at a fixed copper concentration. Then, these complexes were analysed to determine the differences at coordination and related prorerties such as thermal behaviour and chemical binding in the complexes. Results demonstrated that there are significant differences between the prepared complexes. Using different ammonia concentrations in the synthesis resulted in different compounds with different thermal stabilities. Also it was seen from IR spectra that chemical bindings change with respect to the ammonia concentration.
